Power Locks & Tailgate Dash Switch NOT working????
I checked the fuse and it is good but neither door lock switch works ...any ideas, PLUS my switch for my rear window doesn't work either, it only works via the KEY, and if I disconnect the switch the key won't work, and if I take it apart and look at it, it is getting power cuz I see it sparking and drawing the power down....ANY IDEAS????????????????
I'd treat this as two seperate problems. 1) Power locks and 2) Dash Rear Window switch.
According to my '87 - '90 Chilton's manual the power door locks have a 30 amp circuit breaker not a fuse.
The Rear Window switch is a common enough problem... run a search for window switch in this Forum and you'll have a NICE bit of reading. There are several common culprits for a given set of functions. ((FWIW, on mine the door key switch worked, the dash switch wouldn't.. corrected with the replacement of the Dash Switch.))
The door locks... not so sure about. I had an epidemic of switch failures on my '94.. window and locks.. so I won't rule out both of those switches going bad. After that... wiring or circuit breaker perhaps?? Dunno.
I had a similar issue with my door locks and found the culprit to be a broken wire in the drivers side door, in the boot that hides the wiring from door to fender. The passenger side is the master circuit so had to start tracing the wiring from there. But it did lead me to the problem. This after I had already replaced the switches. Get a chiltons manual, and in the back are the wiring diagrams. They will help alot.
