Hello,
I am trying to remove my 205 transfer from my c-6 trans in a 78 Bronco.
I did it before w/ my 79 f-150, but can't seem to get it out of the bronco.
I removed all the bolts from the adapter that hooks the c-6 to the 205 & rechecked to make sure I got them all. Bracket is off & driveshafts off & tried to pry them apart & jar it my dropping the jack fast, but won't let go. Am I missing something?
When you say "bracket is off" you mean you unbolted the adapter from the crossmember? I had a little difficulty getting mine out too, I had to loosen the bolts to the crossmember to get a little more slack in there. then I put a jack under the tail end of the tranny. If your Bronco is anything like my truck there is no crossmember on the back of the tranny. All of its weight is supported by the crossmember under the t-case. When I gave my tranny a little lift it relieved the tension and the 205 slid right off. Also, if you can get to all the bolts, it may be easier to unbolt the adapter from the t-case rather than from the tranny.
I guess I did everything right. I left it sit overnite with all the bolts off and got home from work and the gap between the trans. & the transfer case had grown. Set my roller box under the transfer and alittle pry bar action and ITS OUT!!!!!!!!
