5 speed

i have 77 f-250 xlt ranger with a granny low 4 speed and 4-10 gears. 73 390 and four barrel carb.gas mileage sucks. is there a five speed out there that will fit?

Is there such a thing as a T-5 to FE bellhousing? At any rate, the T-5 is not really strong enough for use behind a 390-4V. The Tremec 3550/TKO will bolt in but the ratios are all wrong for a truck. I'm sure Advanced Adaptors can fit something in there but by the time you adapt something worthwhile, you might be money ahead just changing the rear axle ratio

I think the closets thing to practical may be a New Venture 4500. I thought I once heard of somone being able to get an FE bellhousing that would fit this transmission.
