When I installed my guages i notice the up pipe(s) were relatively small. Then when I installed my 4" turbo back exhaust i thought man compared to the size of my exhaust, those up pipes are really small, and then when I installed my wicked wheel I thought the size of those up pipes has to rob air flow?? I by no means know if the stock manifolds would ever push enough exhaust through those up pipes to cause an over abundance of restriction, but I would assume so. Does anyone know of an up pipe and collector upgrade . Just by looking they appear to be about 2.5 to 2.875" in diameter. Maybe a 3 or 3.5 inch upgrade per pipe?? and of course a collector to fit, or is this completely unnecessary and I have a case of the not satisfied unless i'm upgrading my truck bug?? Thoughts.... Thanks..
There are two up-pipes, one for each bank of cylinders. Between the two of them, they feed into the turbo inlet, which, unless you found a way to enlarge that, too, there wouldn't be any benefit to enlarging the up-pipes.
hey thanks for the response quad!! I got ya on the collecter and turbo inlet size, i guess what i mean is that realizing there would have to be modifications to the turbo inlet, if that is even possible, would there be any benefit from this type of modification? Do you think you could necessarily enlarge the collector and keep the turbo inlet the same size?? I'm curious to know I guess from a physics standpoint if the turbo inlet with an enlarged up pipe collector(to fit the new up pipes) would support the additional flow and of course this depends on whether the stock manifolds would actually be able to push any more exhaust through the up pipes if they were any larger. I guess i've got too much time on my hands, but it seemed to me to be a legitimate thought process especially considering all the little things you can do to these beasts to extract every last bit of power possible. Anyway, give it some thought guys, I think were on to something here

Something to consider,
You have a defined volume of exhaust to move through the 2 inch pipe which travels at x speed to turn the turbo.
If you double the size of the pipe, the amount of exhaust stays the same, then the speed is cut in half. So now the turbo is spinning half as fast.
I will not say this is exact, but you get where I am going with it anyway.
I get exactly where you are coming from but my theory is that the exhaust that moves through the 2 inch pipe at x speed might be under restriction from the 2 inch pipe in turn causing it to be limited to that speed. If the diamter of the pipe is increased could it not be possible for the exhaust to not only travel faster through the larger diameter at the same time more of it?? I'm not a physics guy by any stretch of imagination but it seems to me that reguardless of the rate of speed of the exhaust that the increased volume alone even at the same rate of speed through the pipes in itself would yeild more boost much quicker? Of course this all has to be mechanically possible with what we have to work with IE my intrest in a larger collector and pipes..
