After just finishing the exhaust install I was thinking what else I want to do to the old beast...In no certain order.
1. Seat covers...NEED to get new seat covers and more cushion support. I am tired of sitting on two cheap pillows.
2. Paint...and all new chrome...I would love to but may have to wait a while.
3. New motor....Will definetly have to wait until this one blows.
4. Tires...33's 12.50. I got 32's with the used set of wheels. That will have to wait.
5. Nerf bars...the old ones are getting a bit rusty...
I was just looking at your wish list noticed you have some of the same items as me. My seat cushions are shot and I'm all but (pun intended) sitting on the springs. To solve this, I've cut a piece of egg crate (the stuff you sleep on) to fit the seat. Just with that under there, the seats felt better than almost anything I've sat on in a truck.
Next step is to wait for the seat covers to show up in the mail. I found some that repel water/mud/and wet dog at Cabelas. They don't accomodate an armrest, but my scissors will take care of that.
I have the 5.0L. It runs like a champ w 116k miles. The power is fine for what I need it for. Just a wish for something else. I will baby this one and try to get as many miles.
if you don't have a lift, maybe a 4" lift for looks and to make sure of no tire rub with those 33's. Maybe a 351 when the 302 is done. What did you get done to your exhaust?
I will try and get one on Thursday/Friday. I like the new look with my "Carolina new" wheels and tires. I just put the wheels and tires on and drove to work. Last night I get off from work and make my 42.00 gas donation and I notice two deck screw nails sticking out of the sidewall. I limp home<42 miles> and swap out the tire.
Have you considered using Explorer seats? I'm currently fitting some power ones into my 87 which had the split bench. I'm far from the only one to do this. I really like them and although the material is a bit different, the blue color is very close to what the back seat is. I was originally going for Bronco buckets, but finally gave up as all I could find in the junkyards were toast. Mine are from a 94 but I suspect the later ones will work too. Adapting requires drilling holes in the floor and making a "spacer" for one bolt. I need to make some backing plates for under the floor and run the wiring and mine will be done.
