Engine Ident > '76 F-150 ?
Thanks for any help, it is greatly appreciated.
First, get the VIN off the door plate and go to the following site to make sure it's a 360.

The 352, 360 and 390 were basically the same engine except for Bore and Stroke.
If it is a 360 it is part of the FE family. Look down the forums page for the 352,360,390,406,410,427,428FE forum. 360s and 390s are identical on the outside and the only way to tell is to measure the stroke. This can be done with a dowel through the spark plug hole. Rotate the engint to TDC, mark the dowel, rotate to BDC and mark the dowel again. Measure the distance between marks. 3.5 inches is a 360, 3.75 inches is a 390.
Most tell tale sign of an FE is to look at the intake manifold. The intake/head junction point is under the valve cover in FEs unlike every other engine family that has the junction outside the valve cover. In FE's the pushrods pass through the intake and not the head. Therefore the valve cover has to go over part of the intake. Here is a picture of an FE intake:

Also the front pair of spark plugs are angled back while the rear pair are angled forward. IE / / \ \.
Just about any part listed for an 390 will work on a 360 (except for crank rods and pistons). In order to convert a 360 to a 390 you can swap the crank, rods, and pistons with no other mods.
Enjoy. The FE is a good truck motor. Good low end torque and very reliable.
