Question Fender Trim

i have a 97 F250 with a 4" suspension lift, i wanna do a 3" body lift but nobody will do it becouse its powerstroke. i currently have 33"s and want 37". i mostly stay on-road. they sould fit know in the back but might rub up front. any suggestions on fender trimming?

definately draw up a template so you get even lines. pretty much just use a sawzall and cut along the templates and then i would buy some fender flares to put on there. they just attach to your remaining fender. they look badas and they will catch all the junk that yer new 37s are gonna be flingin! im pretty sure 4 Wheel Parts sells them. check out the link. good luck!

correct me if i am wrong but i remember a post one here a while back talking about just ordering a lift for your truck but say it has a 460 instead of a psd. it should be the same....i don't see why not!

on the fender trimming....practice. if you have a set of air nibblers i would use them b/c it will cut a lot smoother.

yea i think someone said something about the diesal engines were too big for the engine compartment if you lifted the body up??? something wierd like that! i dont know what could really be in the way if u lifted the body but whatever fishys right i cant imagine there would be much of a diff. theyre only like $100 and im sure u could fab anything that could be different! i would just be sure to fab brackets for the bumpers so they are actually even and also fab extenders for all your shifters because they dont come with em, and its a real pain if u dont extend them!

you should be fine, jsut do wut jason said, the reason peple ae so sketchy about diesel body lifts is the newer ones have intercooler pipes you gotta worry about...your 97 dont(unless you put an intercooler in)

thanks guys! people have told me that the reason they cant body lift diesels is because the intercooler, so i figured i could lift mine. so i think ill put a 2" body then if the 37"s still dont fit ill trim the fenders

On the fender cutting, what I do is take a very thin and long piece of wood, less than 1/8" about 1" wide and 6ft long or so. Then bend it to the contour you want on a scrap piece of cardboard (may need another set of hands). Cut out the pattern and then scribe that arc on the side of your body. This will give you a nice consistent arch and you can make it as deep or shallow as you want depending on how much you bend the wood.
