Does anyone know what would make my power stroke 2002 f350 acelerate with out pressing gas petal?
Has anyone experianced this>? Dealer told me air in fuel line but doesnt seem right.
Thanks
Does the engine go to high idle and stay there or does it really "run away?" When a diesel engine "runs away" it doesn't stop until it blows (you can't stop it). Engines with a mechanical fuel injection pump were sometimes prone to this failure but the Power Stroke engine will only "run away" if the oil fill in the crankcase is grossly overfilled. It then churns up all that oil and sucks it in to the turbo inlet through the breather and runs away (turning off the key won't stop it because it is running on engine oil).
I suspect what you ment to say is it goes to high idle and stays there (about 3600 RPM) in which case you've probably got a defective throttle position sensor.
Yes, you have to be Johnny-on-the-spot. We used to shoot a fire extinguisher into the intake to kill them. Sometimes we'd need 2 or 3 guys shooting it to kill it!!
