Unhappy Transmission problem maybe

I have a 1997 F150 extended cap 4 wheel drive The truck has 130k on it but is in very good condition.fficeffice" /><O></O>

It has just developed a problem, when you are driving and are going up a hill or slight grade and give the truck a little gas the truck start to jerking. I am not getting a check engine light and on the level I don't feel any of this jerking. I've run the truck with the overdrive off and tried it again and you can still feel it but not as bad.<O></O>

Previous to this problem I had two coil packs go bad, I replaced them and replaced the spark plugs. This caused a rough running truck but not the same as the problem described above. Any Help will be appreciated.<O></O>

Make sure you didn't install Bosch plugs, I had the same problem with Bosch plugs. If your plugs are Motorcraft, I would replace the plug wires.....

I did replace the plugs with bosch platiums, This truck has the coil packs over the plugs so there are no wires. Did your problem go away when you replaced the plugs? And what plugs did you replace the plug with?

Yes, throw the Bosch plugs away, and install Motorcraft platinums (either double platinum, or fine wire).

And if that doesn't solve the problem, I have heard that the Throttle Positioning Sensor can cause this sort of fault.

Possible, but it wouldn't only do it on an incline. It would be consistant regardless of load I would think.
bernmnta, Welcome to the forum Just a little hint, when posting a question, please try to include vital info such as engine size in this case. I just makes it easier for us to properly diagnose your problem. I am assuming that you have a 5.4L since you have the coils on each plug? These are called COP's (Coil On PLug). The 4.6L's didn't get these until 99 I think. They have 2 coil packs with plug wires.
I would put Motorcraft plugs back in it as Homer mentioned. These newer engines seem to be picky about spark plugs and run best on the Motorcrafts. Did you install the plugs yourself? Fun, eh? If you are changing tham yourself, please be sure to properly torque them in the head. (Ford recommends 13 lb/ft). This should eliminate the dreaded spark plug blowing out of the head that shows up on here from time to time.

Thank you, I replaced the bosch plugs with Motorcraft double platinum plugs and it seems to have cured the problem. The truck is running smoothly up hill and all around.
Thanks Again Very Much

Thank you for the advise. I will be more specific in the future with motor size and needed vitals. The Motorcraft plugs provide to be the cure. Yes, I installed the plugs myself, and your right its a job, but I am getting better.
I could not find a torque spec so I tighten them to 10 lb\ft will that be alright or should I re-torque them? Is it normal, that these plugs don't seem to thread in very much? And is there very many problems with the spark plugs blowing out?

Thank you
Robert

Retorque them now that it has been thru the heat up and cool down cycle. Torque them when the engine is cold. It isn't a majorly common problem, but it does happen. There are only about 5 threads in the head I think, so proper torque is highly recommended.
