2001 Freightliner FL70 "Business Class" straight truck with Cat Diesel, all electronic, anyone know how to "turn it up" like we did in the old days by cutting the twisted wire and turning the screw??
This one will turn only 2100 rpm in high gear (6th) but will turn around 24oo in the rest, it used to be able to run 73 mph before the fuel pump was changed now it will only run 67. Thanks!
Those trucks are governed by the computer now. No way to bypass it. The only way to get it to turn more is to take it to a Freightliner shop & have them hook it up to the machine.
How do you like the newer slim lined style after driving it a while? The FL-70 felt to me to be kind of cheap feeling with the thinner doors (compared with the older style trucks) and we always had trouble keeping the newer FL-70s running in the colder weather if they sat for a week or so.
I understand they are real popular for RV conversions because they get much better gas mileage.
if you go to a dealer ship cat or freightliner they should be able to hook it to a master computer and change the master settings. when i worked for freightliner we had a truck that we adjusted all the settings on, it would cruise at a max of about 130mph. we had the trip downloads from the computer to prove it to.
There are ways of turning that truck up. When I drove for a company that had all elect control motors I would take the truck to the shop & slip them a $20 bill & they would set the truck at what I wanted it to do. Good Luck & Drive carefuly.
