Rough ride

I recently purchased a 1995 F-250, 7.3l, extended cab, long box and am very dissaponted with the ride. I have new 10 ply tires with 55lbs pressure and it like riding in a steel wheeled hay wagon. I tried to soften the ride by temporarily dropping the tire pressure to 40 lbs that made some difference. There is no load in the vehicle other that passenger and I wanted this truck to pull a trailer. The hitch weight is about 800lbs which should soften the bounce.
Is the ride typically very rough or is there something that can be done to make it smoother?

You can get a reverse shackle kit for the front that will ease the ride a bit. I don't mind the ride on mine.

thats just the price you pay for having a tough truck. if it werent so rough the suspension would be weaker and wouldnt be able to haul as much

What shape are the shocks in? Junky worn out shocks will make any truck ride horrible. Check them out first!

My 95 reminds me of being in my dad's farm trucks or riding a very soft saddled horse sometimes! Not remotely as rough riding or as loud as the 78 Toyota I had for a few years. Something was wrong with that thing! I finally killed it with what I was doing with it. It is standard for a work PU though. You get used to it after a while. If not, you might want to switch to a 1/2 ton or some similiar 'driving' vehicle. Depends on what you're doing with it.

my neighbor has a 1 ton that had rancho air shocks installed on it that has an on off switch in the cab. He said that it made a world of difference.
