Mud Flaps

Non engine related topic but I'm curies how many of you have ordered the Ford factory hard plastic form fitted mud . flaps ( at least thats what they call um)?

I just picked mine up today and I'm thinking "YUK" . Form fitted my butt!. I could have chiseled a better fit from nothing. What are you fellers pleased with? Maybe I'm just to picky.

Return them. I also ordered them and thought long and hard about drilling holes in my fenders and decided against it. If you look at the instructions...your supposed to prep the new holes with some type of sealer because you will be drilling through paint and exposing bare metal...it doesn't mention what type or anything. Thats my best guess looking at the picture. They are ok if you plan on keeping the truck low, or drive a lot on gravel roads. But if you are like most...you probably like to take care of your truck and keep it clean. If you plan on lifting the truck, they would have to come off anyway.

Maybe its just me but I don't like a $40,000 truck to look like it was outfitted at the local Autozone.

As a side note, Ford will charge you a $15.00 restocking fee.

I have the Ford factory mudflaps, they fit just fine on my truck, and look great with my 295/75/16 BFG all terrains, also help keep the stones from hitting the side of the truck.

I bought them because I have a gravel driveway and hated heqaring rocks hit the side of the truck..

The FIT was good...BUT drilling the hole was STUPID....Ford should have the hole already there...I mean there are 500000 other holes in the body that dont get used...why did ford skimp there...

The only other thning that was slightly bootleg IMHO is the Spacer sleeve for the fronts...It reminded me of a conversion kit or something...Like "use these long spacers and screws to add the dodge viper mudflaps to your F250"...

As far as the silicone goes they mean just regular silicone sealant..I just painted mine with Touch up paint... It will be fine.. You wheel well will be better there in 5 years than Above the flap where stones etc will chip the paint anyway...

I bought the factory mud flaps today. They were the best fitting mud flap I could find locally. I don't like the black color with my white / arizona beigh color scheme, so I am going to paint them to match the lower accent color. I am spraying the side facing the tire with undercoating spray to prevent rocks from "starring" the paint on the back of the mudflap. I also am picking up some clear paint protectant film to put on the truck where the mud flap contact the body to protect the truck in case I want to remove the mud flaps in the future. I'll try post some pictures after I get them installed, it will probably be Saturday night before I get them painted, then Sunday for the install.
