tachometer hookup

Here's how you fix it, if you think that's the problem:
1. Unconnect instrument cluster.
2. Dismantle instrument cluster by first taking off outside cluster cover, which should use I believe 3/16" wrench/socket.
3. The front two plastic pieces should lift off.
4. Now loosen the tachometer nuts (the 4 nuts on the back of the tachometer) with a 5/16" socket/wrench.
5. Now the tachometer should pull out.
6. Loosen the nuts on the back of the tachometer itself (5/16" again)
7. Loosen the two phillips screws, one on each side of the tachometer casing.
8. Now the white cover should lift off. Make sure as you lift it off you push in on the bolts on the back.
Now, the way you check if it is good, there is one solder connection in between both circuit boards that is grounded all the way through. Also there are two wing-nuts on two shafts holding the two pieces together. Push the wing nuts all the way down on the two silver shafts.
Now to put it back together is the reverse of taking apart.
See if that works. I had that same problem happen in one of my tachs and now it works perfectly.
