Upgrade Tranny
dOES ANYONE KNOW HOW A NEWER INLINE SIX TRANSMISSION, SAY AN 89 4 SPEED WITH OVERDRIVE , WOULD MATCH WITH AN OLDER SIX CYLINDER. IS A NEWER TRANNY POSSIBLE IN A FORD 86 FI50 THAT I'M NOW PUTTING A 79 300 SIX INTO TO THAT HAS THE ORIGINAL 4 SPEED IN IT. CAN I GO TO A NEWER TRANNY WITH OVERDRIVE?

as long as your 79 has a hydrolic clutch system you should have no problem i know for a fact the trassmison will mount right up but if you have a cable clutch you may have to put a hudrolic system on your 79 which they make kits for it and it all depends on how much work you want to do WELL GOOD LUCK....
