dum ford computer question
Since no companys make wire harnesses for big block fords (460). And a lot make them for 5.0-5.8 etc. Why couldnt a person install a 5.8 wiring harness with a 5.8 computer on a 460 EFI. Use the same size 460 injectors, And just have the computer reprogramed. They do it for small blocks,bored and stroking over 408 cubic inch. Make the computer think its controlling a bored out/stroked 460 cubic inch small block. Program in the cubic inch,cam size,injection sizes etc. Also type transmission and rear. Has anyone done this ? Surley theres others that enjoy a stong/good running 460 EFI. I seen a 460 wireing harness on a truck in a junk yard. Wow ! Its a hell of a lot of wires. Which say like a 5.0 stang or p.u. have a lot less.

People do make swaps like that, but they also take harnesses off 460's in the prior generation of F250/F350 and use them. Either way, the computer's going to need to be custom programmed to get the a/f ratio right, with a wide band O2 graph highly recommended.
