havnt driven truck in awhile toewd with it the oter day and the vibration from the front rotors was bad! ive already had the rotors turned once and they are warped again.... these things suck. truck has 37k on it. it vibrated without trailer too.
I don't know about where you live but I buy my rotors from the local wrecking yard. They have new one for 16 bucks each. Went to Schucks and they wanted $70 each. I just replace mine when they go bad. Turning them doesn't fix them. The rotor gets a hot spot on it and everytime the brake goes over that area it grabs the brake pad i.e. vibration. I presume you mean the vibration is under braking.
or if you want a set of performance front rotors i've seen them for about $200. i replaced all of my rotors at 27k miles due to warping with slotted rotors. the dealership had no clue why they warped so early.
My 99 warped a front rotor but it was caused by a caliper hanging up. I am new to ford and i can't seem to figure out how the front rotors come off ... Sorry about changing the subject but i didn't want to start another thread on a similar topic...I have the caliper and bracket off, locking hub ,spring clip and spacers pulled. Nothing else is in sight.. Do I need a puller on these? What am i missing? thanks
I didn't have to take the hub apart at all but you do have to take the caliper mounting bolt out and the rotor just slides off of the hub just like a front wheel drive car very easy except that the mounts bolt are on there very tight and long.

Thank you very much...I have those removed... The rotor appears to be on there pretty good, but as long as its supposed to come off as is I will try a little harder. Sounds like i may be in for the same trouble we had trying to get the wheels off. THANKS AGAIN
As long as it is a 4 wheel drive and not a 2 wheel it will slide off but if it is a 2 wheel then you will have to take the bearing and every thing out as well.

good to hear from you , if you have'nt it drove the truck in awhile then rust has formed on the rotors, and where the brake pads were are clean, just try driving it or take some sand paper to them they should clean up. Glad to see that your feeling good, did the tow go ok?

thanks refuse2, ended up using the same method needed to get the wheels off, jack between spring, moderate pressure and rotate 180...repeat, little mickey mouse but worked......your input was much appreciated!!
I have had a rotor warping problem with the last two Ford trucks I have owned. Have had them turned and sometimes replaced. I thought I was too heavy on the brakes??? Is there any way to remedy this and prevent it from happening? The vibration when braking is terrible!
I had the same problem on my '99 F-350. I had the rears turned and went with Performance Friction slotted front rotors and pads. Well worth the $200.
Just my .02
One thing you might want to check every week or so is the torque on the lugs. I have alum wheels on my truck and they tend to loosen up, this will cause the rotors to warp if they dont have an even pull on them. Hope this helps
No problem, what kind of rotors you putting on it?

Right now i am just replacing this one with whatever i can get. Going to keep an eye on this thread though, if i get another warp (sounds like i may) will consider other rotors as you are....
