Chain rattle
has any one taken their ranger into the ford dealer to fix the timing chain rattle on the 4.0 sohc.After their warranty has expired. Did they fix it for free acording to TSB 2-8-1. Mine just started doing it at 37000 miles. 
i have a 2001 4x4 4.0 sohc. If ford won,t do it how much does something like this run

what rattle are you talking about? im just curious..... could you describe? also does the 2.4l also have a timing chain or belt? just curious... need to change it like yesterday!

Just bought my 01 ranger used from a ford dealer and they will fix it under my used car waranty with a $100 deductible. They said do it now, because it is only covered under the 3/36 bumper to bumper. I have heard of other dealers cover most/all of the cost so definitely try. The cost is around 2000-3000 from what I've heard since they do have to pull the engine to fix it.
