this might seem like a stupid question, but where could I get some of that thermal barrier tape, and do i just wrap the airbox, or the two airtubes also?
Check summit, I believe they have it. The more of the inlet system you can wrap, the better the insulation against the engine bay heat. You might want to check out home depot too, they had a foil/bubble/foil wrap that is a highly effective barrier and you could use a aluminum duct tape for it then.
You might also pick up a 460 truck intake tube from the air box to the grill....they are larger, less restrictive and pick up the air from the grill instead of the edge of the hood. Junkyard or dealer, new they were under 20 bucks.

Ya know I have some of that foil/bubble/foil wrap laying around. I'll give that a shot this weekend... not sure how pretty its gonna look under the hood though.
So if I'm getting backflow of oil into my airbox, then that means that my PCV Valve is bad?
All I know is that a bad PCV Valve is bad for mileage as well - so I need to know about the PCV Valve. I don't even know what that stands for..or any clue. If somebody could explain it to me...i can try to search the forum on it, but I never seem to get my information very well from searches. Thank you guys..I think I'll try the 460 air intake. Will it be compatible with my freaky twin TB type of thing my truck has going on - its from before they went to one big one. This is when I get money. But....if the PCV Valve will give me a mpg boost then I'll do it regardless of money. I was running between 9 and 11 mpg before the new air filter...and I filled my front tank completely and havne't even started using it yet...to see my true mpg now.
Btw...with my severely restrictive filter before - should I pop off the negative cable on my battery to reset the computer for my intake? I dunno..just curious. My Taurus I popped a K&N in...and before that my filter was never too bad. I wish I'd kept the old filter. It was Fram I believe...and it was really looking pathetic. I was apalled my grandpa had a filter like that in there...
