Is there anyone out there that knows exactly how the brake switch operates on the 67. The 67 has a switch that seems to be different from every other year. I have a new switch but for the life of me cant figure out how it is supposed to installed or it operates. This is not a typical plunger switch. Hopefully there is another 67 owner out there who has gone through this problem and has an answer.
No, it attaches to the brake pedal somehow. I havent bought any tech manuels yet and have never seen a switch like this before. It is the same one shown in LMC catalog but I have no idea on how it works. Hopefully your books will show. Thanks
The bolt for the brake cylinder goes thru the center of the "switch" and the switch has a slot for it. That way when you press on the brake pedal, the bolt has room to slide just a bit(barely 1/16") to press on contacts for brake lights. I think there is a small bushing (plastic) that goes over bolt before installing thru switch. Keeps everything in line and lets it move.
It is quite a pain, and mine was acting up a couple weeks ago. I had NO brake lights for like a week(til I checked and realized it). It took some fiddling around to get it to work everytime. Some WD40 works wonders. It had gotten some winter time corrosion and was not making contact no matter how hard you pressed on pedal. All seems well now.
I was about ready to start fabb'n up a new mount for a '69 type switch.
