I wanted to post about how many states require three certified letters on late payments to even serve repo papers. But, too much of a hassle to sign up just for one post. Be interesting to see what the bank produced
Those repo guys deserve jail time! To stand there in front of the guy's lawyer and a police officer and flatly refuse to return the guy's car is not only criminal and is STUPID. Imagine the police officer saying in front of a judge, I told them to return the car and they would not so I arrested them.
You can imagine what would have happen to a single lady that went in alone in the same situation or how many times it has happened before.
Thats ok we just traded our 1995 F250 2 1/2 months ago it was the last truck we had a loan on now we paid it off 4 years ago then we lost the title at trade in time. So the sale man called the bank to get a pay off notice on the truck. They told the sales man that we had not paid the truck off. What the heck are these banks doing anyways. There sure not like the old days. Now when I went in the bank to talk to them they change there tune in a hurry.
I would have shot someone if they came and got my truck for no good reason. What idiots, saying they would not give the car back with a cop and a lawyer right there.
Well, in Texas. If someone enters your property when its dark outside and they are a potential theif (ex. repoman) the owner of the property is allowed to shoot the trespasser. This law was put into effect soemtime during the cowboy days, it was meant to protect cattle. I guess they never got rid of the law.
I actually heard about this law watching a show called "repo Men" on the TLC channel. I always said you can learn things from tv.
I was a REPO MAN for many of years and although mistakes can be made I really do not see how this happened -if the person posting on the chat is being completely honest. If so, these repo men definitely deserved to be sued and at the least have their bonding company / insurer drop them. I have seen several mistakes but, as any person associated with the business will tell you that the debtor has many chances before a vehicle is repossessed and it just is not a car comes up for repo and no negotiton situation. AS most vehicles that are repossessed are tore up and the loan company does not want them back. But, rather the debtor just to make some sort of payment. I have been on cases where the person failing to pay on their car was contacted over one hundred times-- yet they all say I paid it off or no one contacted me story. Maybe once a year you will find a person that agrees that it is their fault and most of the time you get the I made the payment/ it is paid of line of BS, when In fact they haven't made a payment in 3-6 months. If I heard the statement "I have it paid off", once -I have heard it a million times. LIke I said while I am not calling anyone a liar, this story sounds a bit far fetched and if truthful this company should not be able to operate. I may also add that I believe Teaxas is the only state where you can protect your private property/ actually stop a repossessor on your property. I really do not understand why someone feels that they should do so when in fact a property that you are not paying on is not your property anymore. I also might add that only a fool would want to hurt anyone over a damn vehicle, that is what insurance and/or the court systems are for. A repossion agent is most the time just an hourly worker doing a job - simply retrieving property that the person has failed to pay for. In the case of a person stopping someone who has incorrectly repo-ed a vehicle that again is why the courts were created. You can love your truck, but when it turns to killing over it perhaps you are the one with the problem. Police are not allowed to get involved in an action unless the peace is disturbed and /or you cna rightfully prove that it was an incorrect repo.

Why did the key fit the car ? If the key was made from a VIN #, it should only fit that specific car, it should not fit any other car unless it is a master, and then it would fit any car and I can't see that. I am probably naive to think so. FSC
I would have dispensed "justice" on those guys. I would go after them for damages, emotional distress, lawyer and court fees, and money for getting rides where I had to go. Stupid repo guys
