Before anyone tells me to do a search I did that using, Seat, seat swap, seat replacement, etc....very few hits.
So here is the question. I need a new seat (old seat is long gone, along with mounting rails) for my 1971 F-250 4x4. I would prefer a late model, split bench. since I can't drive the truck to the wrecking yards, I was hoping to get some tips on which years will fit.
I don't know how much this will help as I am just scraping this info from the top of my non-functional memory. When I bought my truck (69f100) one of the first things I noticed was how nice of a seat it had in it. After doing a little investigating, it turns out that one of the previous owners had installed a seat out of a early 90's model pickup. It isn't a split bench like you are looking for, but it looks like it was a direct bolt in conversion. I personally think it is a very comfortable seat, stylish, and has a convenient fold down arm rest in the center. Oh, it aslo has a slight dip wear the driver and passenger sit. Slightly resembling bucket seats, but yet still a bench. I believe this type seat would be available out of any early 90' model ford pickup up untill they changed the body style.
I believe trucks up to 96, but you'll need to use your original rails. Not hard to get used rails at the boneyards if yours are bad. I've been looking around for a newer seat, but everyone wants a lot for them.
To expensive,
Here in san joes ca. it's $450.00 plus just to redo your old seat. I saw a post that a guy used a mid 90's chevy truck seat. I think you'll just have to do a walk through the old truck boneyard and see what type you like. and if you don't see what you like get two old wing back chairs and put in there or a small love seat. I found a near newly recovered stock seat at the loco pick & pull yard $32.00 bucks ... my 2 cents
orich
I got really, really lucky and found a set of lariat bucket seats from a 99-01 (somewhere in there) that a guy sold me for $250 (leather and everything!). However, I could not use the power rails and adjustments under the driver's seat, otherwise the seat would sit too high. I have the seats down as far as they could possibly be mounted in my truck, I'm 5'10", and they are about perfect. If you are much taller than me, however, I would stay away from these type of seats, as they would probably be uncomfortable for you to drive in.
P.S. I searched for a couple years to try to find a decent set, and stumbled across these. Good luck in your searches.
