Transmission swap
Hi folks,
I have the possibility to buy an AOD Transmission at eBay.
Has anybody done a transmission swap from a C6 to an AOD in an '85 F-250 with 6.9 ltr. Diesel?
Will the AOD fit to the Diesel?
Is the AOD strong enough for towing?
Is it worth to do the swap (for fuel saving ) ?
What material is neccesary for the swap? (driveshaft, brackets, linkage and so on)
Any Ideas?

I don't know if you'll be able to install the AOD just by itself, you may have to have a trans adaptor plate to make it fit up to the bellhousing of the 6.9L diesel.
The AOD should tow fine, depending on the load, and so long as you never tow in OD...because this will either kill it straight off, or make it really really sick....
I don't know if it would be worth it, because you would still only have a 3spd while towing, but around town or just general driving it might be affective.
As for materials, driveshaft, maybe a crossmember, your linkages should still work...maybe your trans lines will still work, i dunno though.
I'm not exactly an expert on a swap like this, maybe someone else will chime in, but this is what i do know.
