The 30 and 44 have different spline counts on the inner shafts (27 splines on the D30 and 30 splines on the D44).
The early Dana 44 outers are the same as the Dana 30.
I may have a short side 44. It doesn't have the best seal surface, but it is usable.

you didn't say why you need another shaft?
If your U joint broke and took the yoke with it than I suggest going with an upgrade like the one from Superior Axel and Gear. I did and havn't broke one sence.
