Thumbs up Need Opinions!!!!!!!!

Ok i need opinions on the following. I have found a professionally rebuilt 302 FI roller motor out of an 88 mustang. The guy wants 600 bucks for it complete and running. The motor is still in the plastic from the rebuild shop my question is will this motor be enough to push my 91 F150 around as is? If I need to swap cams that is fine also. Is a roller motor good for a truck application? Tell me all your thoughts and opinions.

yes you will have to swap cams, put one in that has lobe seperation no more then 114* otherwise the speed density computer will not like it an will run like crap. 600 bucks is a good deal though. just use your truck wiring and accessorys from your old motor along with the upper and lower intake manifold.

to run in your truck with the serpintine belt you will need to swap your timing cover on and water pump as the truck pumps run counterclockwise , but if you're changing cams that will have to come off anyway.

The '88 mustang should be serpentine as well, so I don't think the water pump/timing cover would be a problem, but if it is, just swap the truck parts onto the mustang engine block. '88 mustangs were speed density too, but I don't know how the cam will do with a truck speed density system.

What would be a good recommended cam for the truck application?

Nope. You can use your old distributor. You DO need a different distributor GEAR though, to go with that roller cam. If you don't get the right gear, it will eat up your cam.

If your rebiuld motor bolt patern is the same to the trans as your 91 and you get the correct specks of your rebuild use the roller system. They sell chips for such applactions

The 302 isn't going to have much low end torque. You might not be happy with the way it pushes your F-150 around. That's why Ford put 351s in them.

That is what is stock in there. I know desktop dyno is 100% accurate but it gives you an idea and the way this one that I got is built it says I will be gettin about 380lb/ft at 2000RPM.

Also does anyone now where I can get the stock airflow file for the desktop dyno on this roller motor
