tuning And Guages

Getting a new excursion in fall. I want to improve towing and mpg capabilities with an after market mod chip. I am new to this I see on here there are several options. I have seen products that reprogram the ecu ( predator) and chips that plug into the ecu also the edge with attitude read-out that comes after the ecu. My question is on each kind what has to be removed before taking in for service as to not ruin the warranty. The edge atitude combo it seems that the readout/guage would have to be removed since it is all in one. Do es all the wiring into the engine have to be removed also. Withthe predator I understand you just reprogram it to the last factory mod. If you install guages does it hurt your warranty. I plan this to be my wifes kid hauler and our vacation trailer towing vehicle. Most of the chips/tuners have 3 to 5 settings and i think I would only use the middle of the road setting. If that is the case is it imperative that I have guages? Pros and cons of each would be helpful thanks.

Welcome...
ANOTHER can of worms thread...
I had a utner for my 7.3L and stayed with it for the 6.0L ad have great response from the predator...
to ME, it's the easiest thing to take back to stock...

and no - gauges as such will not void your warranty....

jdadamsjr is right again. On the warranty issue, they would have to show that the gauge mod caused the problem. As for which "chip" to get, go for the Predator. Aside from the fact that it takes just a few minutes to change programs, there is a bunch of other functionality like diagnostics and ability ot upload and download programs. It is priced most competitively at Motorhaven. Call them for specials.
