[updated:LAST EDITED ON 15-Dec-02 AT 10:39 AM (EST)]the ford dealer said the x springs sit know higher then other springs. my truck is sl;ightly less then level. they said that they dont see the need for them.
my question- dou you think they will raise the truck up higher then the rear? then i would have to do something to bring the rear up.
the springs x are expensive, are they worth it? i want to make sure i have the right combo to keep the nose up aqnd not overload the front rear. another thing has anyone use the hard rubber snubers or load boosters? they keep the front off the springs too? thanks.
the truck is 2002 f350 psd cc longbed 4x4 with a 8' fisher plow when it snows.
I don't know if Ford toughened up the front springs on newer models, but on my '95, they weren't strong enough to support the PowerStroke for more than 4 years. I had an extra leaf installed under the stock springs for about $200, which raised the heighth to mabey slightly over stock, but not higher than the rear. I would think this would be an inexpensive solution to the extra weight of your plow.
I've got no clue what a snow plow weighs, but they're obviously very heavy. I've got another possible solution to your problem. You could add air bags to the front of your truck, and air 'em up when you've got the plow on, which would help support the extra weight. I've got air bags on all four corners of mine, and I'm sure that would be an inexpensive way to get the job done, and give you the adjustability you'd need. If you had a pre-'99 truck, I'd recommend the reverse shackle kit, which raises the front of the truck enough to level it out. But, since you don't, never mind.

The plow i got on my 2001 weighs about 750#. I also went to a local spring shop and had an extra leaf installed for $225. It makes the truck sit close to level, so when i put some weight in the back the truck still looks level and not sagging, but also when raising the plow up and down the truck does not nose dive like all the other Crew Cabs.

ive got the tough country leveling kit now. does anyone run the load booster snubbers to support the weight. do the air bags work? whats the $? did the extra spring stiffen the ride? the truck is level without the plow, so i only need help with the plow. maybe the bags are the wat to go.
My air bags were on the truck when I got it, but I think they're about $200 per axle, installed. You can run the price up considerably if you want an on-board compressor, etc. If you're capable of doing the work yourself, you'd obviously be able to save a lot of that.
