a better fix

i found a better way to fix the vacum leak caused by the rubber elbow cracking on the pcv plastic tube on the back of the engine, the ford replacement costs about $38-48 this is less than 2 bucks. remove the rubber elbow, get a coil wire {old style} with the 90 degree rubber boot on the end, it should be the same size , only its a heavier rubber..and more heat resistant..than the O.E.M. replacement, hope this helps.

Hey f=250by497.
I did this very same fix about 2 months ago on my 250LD. It has worked terrific so far. I wanted to mention it on the forum, but was afraid everyone would think I was nuts! Thanks for posting it!
Mike

i have'nt heard much with it being a problem with the 4.2's just the 5.4 and 4.6's maybe lxman1 or racerguy will comment on this.

mrgroote, i know what your saying, what the heck, i posted it, because the replacement was not that good for the cost.and i hoped it will help someone else, if you got any fixes, post'em

If the 4.2 uses a 90 degree elbow in the PCV hose, then it should work for that engine too.
