Lightning Swap

Was wondering if anyone had ever swapped an early model lightning engine into a F150 and if anyone has is there any problems you had in doing so. Have found a complete engine for around 800 dollars. Any info would be appreciated. Before i go and buy it i would like some info.

thank you

Was looking into that myself. Couldn't find one under a $1000 @ salvage yard. Called, said he look and see about condition and never heard from them again. You know the story. Anyway, back to your question. I found out you'll have to replace the computer, wiring harness and depending on the year you are installing it on, the MAF system. This is the answer I got from Ryan a FordFuelInjection.
Mine is an '88 F150
Honestly with a stock 5.8L Lightning computer.....
I would get a computer from a 89-93 5.8L Truck.
That computer can run the engine.
And you can use your original harness.
that would be the smartest option.
MAF costs a lot of money and wouldn't give you any extra power.

If you do choose MAF, stay away from the ZA0 or X3Z, they are
both costly, have programing issues, and are not as good as the
standard 88-93 Mustang computers.

You could run a '93 lightning computer, it's not mass air. Should bolt in the same as any other 351, except for maybe the throttle linkage.
