I recently replaced the solenoid on my 74 F-100, it was running fine, started right up, but the solenoid went bad, just clicked like a bad starter. I replaced it removed each wire and put it directly do the new one, and after that, it wouldnt start, i had no power in the truck, so i went to put jumper cables on it and the wiring under the hood it all started getting very warm and a few melted together that i now need to splice and replace, is this a bad solenoid? or did i possible connect something wrong? please someone help me.
Alright dude, for some reason the same type of situation just happened to me recently. I ended up spending about 120.00 more than I need to, but It turned out to be the ignition switch for me. Make sure your wires are hooked up properly as in a haynes, or chilton manual, then if nothing makes sense, try the ignition switch...it was no worries for me after that. Good luck
do you remeber how much an ignition switch was? i tried starting it at the solenoid with some screw drivers and it wasnt sparking or doing anything at all also? is that def a solenoid or could be a ignition switch also?
thanks Mil1ion, i have the connections right im positive, but ill check them over again. Any other ideas, if not im going to ttry another new soleniod and if not that im going to try an ignition switch.
