I have a E.B. 5.4 (97) with a throttle body, and I would like to know if anyone can tell me how I can increase my horsepower without a lot of cost involved.
Someone has told me that I could have my computor re-programed and I could pick up maybe 5/8 h.p. but I don't want to buy a $400.0 programmer for 8 h.p.!
I would appreciate any comments on this subject...

A programmer (Superchips), better air filter, better exhaust (Flowmaster, Dynomax, etc) and a good tune up will help alot. There are no big hp gains from bolt on's unless you get a supercharger!!!
sounds way high to me. I wonder how he figures that. The stock nomber is quoted from the flywheel. I do not know how he figured 300hp. BTW in most cases the bolt on gains are small but they do add up. Just don't epect the world unless you bolt on nitrous or a supercharger.
Yea, your right LxMan1.. I think the programmer resets trans. shift times, recals. the speedometer, and advances or retards idle depends on your settings of "standard" or "performance".
If one chooses the performance, then prem.fuel is suggested.
