Just bought myself an 87 f150 V8 302, and really want to get rid of those stock tires and rims (23.5-7.5 R-15). I was on partskart.com and found some nice BF goodrich AT's that are quite a bit bigger - 30 - 9.5 R-15, and was wondering if I would need a lift in order for them to clear the fenders. Has anyone done a home body lift? The kind where you just buy your self some U bolts and a length of square steel tube?
Thanks!

Hey, i have an 1992 F-150 2X4 with a 4.9 liter strait 6 and i can put 31X10.50's on the front without scrubbing bad. If i were u i would get a suspension lift, it will lift the hole truck up and give you more ground clearance and you can put bigger tires on. If you have any suggestions about some good suspension lifts email me at erik_5699@hotmail.com or just reply...Thanks I am going to put a 351 V8 when i get the time...
The stock tire size is actually metic, its not 23.5 its 235mm 75mm R15 (aka 235/75/R15) which comes out to a 28.9" tire in diameter. You can fit up to a 31/10.5/15 on a stock 4x2 or 32/11.5/15 on a stock 4x4. Body lifts are ok, but their kinda cheap. Head down to the suspension forum and do a search on "body lift" and "suspension lift". There might even be some threads on the first 2-3 pages because it's a very popular question. Don't forget to read my "revised" sticky in this forum at the top too...heres a link...
Ok that clears things up! Thanks for the info on the tire sizes - I think I will forget the body lift and go right for the suspention lift - that partskart place I mentioned before appears to sell some half decent kits from skyjacker.
