Guys and Gals, I have a 18teen wheeler truck that has been acting like it is getting without fuel at high RPM's. A guy told me it sounded like the injectors. So I said what the heck I put the Stanadyne Performance formula in my truck so I will try it in it! Well the truck holds 100 gal of fuel and a 1/2 gallon of Performance formula treats 240 gallon of fuel. SO do yall think it will hurt it to just split it twice or should I split it 3 times? However if I split it 3 times I won't be putting enough in each tank full, one tank full we be cut alot short!!!
PS. My dad is scared it may burn the motor up if I put to much in one tank full!
I wouldn't worry about putting in too much. Diesel mechanics drain the fuel bowl, and fill it back up with straight Stanadyne to clean the injectors, so going a little "rich" shouldn't be a problem. If I was doing it for "remedial" purposes, I'd use half the bottle on this tank, and the other half next time.

What kind of engine do you have in your 18 wheeler? How does it act when it is at top rpm? Is it missing or just running poorly? Did you add some other type of treatment to the fuel and drop the bottle seal into the tank and it is blocking the supply line? Is the supply line collapsing while requiring full flow flow? Did you add kerosene to the fuel to cut it for winter use? Did your fuel supplier cut the fuel for winter use? So many questions to think about before answers can be provided.
Sorry it took so long to reply just been really busy during the holidays. Well the truck has been doing it for a while and we tried fuel filters, didn't help very much but it did a little. The truck as no telling how many miles on it, it has a V6.92 Detroit in it! It kinda acts like its missing a little when it gets to high RPM'S, its not doing it bad just when you need to extra RPM'S with a load of logs it flutters, don't really sound like a dead miss more like a flutter. The truck uses no oil, you can go to it on some of the coldest morning and hit the starter and it will crank. About the fuel additives, I as far as I know the truck has never had any put in except one time and the time it did my brother put one little bottle in it so not enough for the amount of fuel it holds. One time we went off from around home with it with a load and we didn't think we gonna make it home and we took it to the shop and the guy said two of the injectors were bad so we had them put in and it ran good for a while and we are guessing now it needs the rest put in it! But I wanted some opinions of what I might try before we do that! cause thats not real cheap!
It's probably the injectors if you already had to replace two of them and you say the miles are high. Your rack adjustment and injector timing may be off too. If you aren't burning any oil then your rings are probably alright. The only way to make sure is do a compression test or pull the air box covers and do a visual inspection.
If it were me, I'd check the injector timing and rack first. Be sure to notice the springs under the injectors and valves for breakage while you have the valve covers off. Then I'd pull the air box covers and check the rings just because it has a lot of miles on it. If you know what you're looking for you can tell about how much wear the rings have on them and if you have a broke ring on one or more cylinders.
If all look good then I'd replace all of the injectors.
This won't have any effect on your miss but while I was at it, I'd inspect the blower. The blower lobes should look dry and just a little dirty. If they are clean with a oil film on them then you have a blower seal leaking. Check along the edges of the blower lobes. It should be free from scratches and wear marks. If not then you have a bearing starting to go.
I was thinking one other thing that might cause the problem your having. Your fuel pump may be craping out and not be able to deliver enough fuel at higher rpm under load. You can usually install a gauge on the pressure side of the fuel filter to check it. 10 psi or more at full load should be enough. You shouls have 30 psi or more without a load. The pressures differ from pump to pump.
