Impressed "at the pump."

Well after my morning experience(see "raildust" post) I was at least impressed with my first fill-up since delivery. First off, my truck is an 04 Supercab Fx4 5.4 w/3.73LS rearend. I've got a Manik grill guard, steps, toolbox and spray-in (all added weight)................1st fill up at 1/8 tank: 21.4 gal & 288.5 miles (approx 13.5). This is primarily city and some 60mph driving in 45mph zones. You know the stretches I'm talking about. I compare this to my bestfriends dodge hemi 4x4 at 10.5mpg city and my old 03 Mustang GT at 17mpg city.

I got 14.5 on the last tank that I checked which was around the 1200 mile range on engine. I have since added a Flowmaster muffler and AirAid air filter. 3200 miles on truck so, the engine should be good and broke in. Taking a trip to Northeast Texas Friday, so I can't wait to check the MPG after all the changes. Hoping for at least the 15-16 MPG range. I will report back after I find out.

By the way, SCrew 4x2 XLT with the 5.4 and 3.55 LS.

With 2500 miles (Scab 5.4, 373LS) I'm only getting about 11-12mpg driving about 50% city and 50% highway. Also just a note to anyone that has
a Canadian truck with the message center, when you have it in MPG it is reading American gallons not Canadian so you are getting less than you think. You have to switch it over to "L per 100Klm" and you'll be a little more accurate.

I thought my mpg would be average. I guess it is as good as I originally thought. Like I stated earlier, this is my first tank so even with a "tight" motor I'm really impressed with pulling off 13.5mpg. Oh, I do baby it though but not too bad.

As a side note, I run Shell 87 octane regular grade.
