points/timing adjustment, how often? and wierd stuff...
seems when setting timing (vacuum pluged) it will set(6*), then after a few seconds of running, it'll drop a few degrees all by itself(3*). i turn the dizzy to get it set it to 6* again, and the timing jumps to 12-14*...
also, even when all the stars align, and I get the truck running real smooth, I have more power at part throttle than I do at full throttle... even if I'm just rolling thru the range of the gas pedal, seems once I go much past 1/2 throttle, power falls off.

I read that thread, and wonder'd if my issues are comming from my old original dizzy.
fresh 390, 0.040 over, ported c1ae/c6aer heads, stock 2bbl(rebuilt and new power valve) C6 on it's very, very last legs.
I dont know how many miles ya have on the motor? but.. a change in timing like that could very well be a worn out dist. gear.. weak springs in the advance system..
dist. weights sticking..worn out timing gears and chain..Bad vacuum advance diaphram. It sounds like maybe to distributor advance is not holding vacuum? Good Luck-Russ...
One way to help is to replace it, but I would probably just pull it apart and see what needs fixed. It may just need some tweaking with a pair of needle nose pliers. I've see many like that, even newer ones. Rebuilt ones are not always that perfect either. I would check a new one also.
