Its been so long since Ive been on I forgot How much I missed it. Does anyone have specs to drive shaft length? Ive got a 77 with a 300 and a c4. there is slop at the output end of the trans. and it just seems to me that the shaft might be too short. I thought it was the trans at first but after I blew it up and installed the new one, Ive still got the slop. When I installed the shaft I realized that after installing it on the spline I was pulling it back out a distance to bolt it to the yolk. I could just mesure for lenghth but would I want to push the shaft in the tranny housing as far as she will go or leave a certian amount of play in there? Thank you.
There should be about an inch or so of travel in the yoke at least.
Better get it fixed or that new seal will be leaking soon.
I would push it all the way into the tailhousing and see how much travel you have between the u-joint and the rear yoke. If it's got more than 2 inches I would think it's too short.
