New to the forum looking at ordering a 6.0 F350 Lariat 2 wheel drive SC SB in the next couple of days can anyone advise on performance and fuel mileage empty and when towing 10,000 lb car hauler.Having a real hard time with the final decission between GMC and Ford, love the look and drive in the Ford but the GM seems to have a lot more pick up and the computer does everything compared to the very basic Ford one. When I test drove the two trucks last week I found that the Gm fired up immediately in the morning with out any preheat on a below freezing day but the Ford seemed to need preheat even durring the day when shut down for a1/2 hr. or so. Would appreciate any input you can give me.
My truck is a little different - F250 FX4 CC 6.0, but I can give you an insight to the mileage. The motor's not broken in yet, but I see a consistent 15.28 mpg in the city. I've only had one road trip, and got 17.66 mpg. While towing a 4500lb boat, got 15.02 mpg. I was all in the throttle under the boat too. I really expected poorer mileage given the manner I was driving it.
As for cold starting I can't help. Below freezing temperatures are pretty rare in south Houston.
I don't regret the purchase one bit. I never gave the Chevy any thought. You see 20+ Super Duties around here for every Chevy HD.
