Did the older truck (late 70's era) ever come with diesel engines? I want to get a 77,78 or 79 F-250 4X4 with a diesel.

Thanks,
Adam

Nope 1983 was the first year for the diesel. But not to say that you can't stuff one in a earlier truck.

I guess all I would have to do is come up with some type of mounts and run new fuel lines and a new tank.

Also if you have an auto trans you will have to find a Diesle auto since the shift points are different. Due to diesle only having 3300 RPM

Maybe you should try and find a truck of the year you want and put the cab and bed on the frame of a newer modle truck. Could be the simplist solution of all.
