I now have 5,600 miles on my 04 f350, I drive it hard pulling stock trailer between Seattle and Montana, I love it. Only one problem with auto tranny, they fixed it in a day. I think the 6.0 and the torque shift auto tranny is one of the best combos i have ever driven. my millege now is 17-18 hwy and 15-16 city and around 10-12 pulling
trailer.

26,000 miles on my 04/03 with only one bad sensor. Trouble was it took the dealer 5 tries to figure out what was actually wrong with the truck. 13,000 since it was fixed with no problems. I dont know why some people are so worked up about the lack of pilot injection since it is an it idle feature, and frankly my truck is at idle all of 2 minutes a day. Getting 18 mpg highway if kept at 75 mph and 12 towing 7500 lb trailer at 75mph as well. Great truck for towing.

Picked up my 250 4x4 CC in Feb. 4,500 miles so far and love it. Had to take it in for a cut wire to the A/C. but fixed quick. I bought an extended warantee just to be safe. 6 years/100,000 miles. Jump in with both feet

Ya, did some pulling up to canada and was getting right at 20mpg pulling 8k with an 01 dmax. Although the ford is more powerfull, and the trans is sweet.
I was hoping the gallons per mile was better under load, but maybe ill buy the Predator to help out. later kxpaul

Ordered 12-10-03 picked up 2-10-04, Door sticker says 1-04, can't find engine date. 1100 miles 15 mpg all empty. Found sweet water leaking at the front of the engine. Traced back to be under some protective plastic netting on the lower hose. Found a wrap of some kind of tape similar to electrical tape around the hose. Don't think that's right but I'm not going to take it off, will let them do it at the first service. That's it!!! Love the truck. Most powerfull I've ever had. Red 250 CrewCab short bed w/bucket seats. Stck tires with Centerline Auto-Drag lookalike Discontinued rims. It's only job will be to tow my race car to Bonneville, just like the last 3 trucks. Lookin for someome who put in the 3.55 rear gears from a E-350 6.0 Van.

Have 11,000 miles on my 04 FX4 F250 HD 4X4 6.0L, and love it. Was always a loyal Chevy man till I owned this truck. Don't think it holds a candle to how comfortable the Chev 2500 HD is to drive. But this is one solid truck. I know the trucks nowadays are more like glorified sports cars but I feel that this truck will outlast any Chev I've owned when it comes to off road/work applications due to the higher clearance, meatier suspension, & thicker exterior shell.
Don't get me wrong still like Chevs yet! But just for lighter duty stuff.

I must have slept a few months. With a build date of 10-04 it must be a 2005 huh? Any changes?

I can't let this one go by without wading in. My '04 F250 PSD has a build date of 09/03, engine 08/03. Picked it up Feb'04 with 38 miles on the odometer. It's my first diesel. Don't get me wrong...I love this truck....but at 1200 miles I noticed the RMS leak that so many others have written about. I go in next week for the first checkup (3000 miles) and first oil change. When I made my apppointment with the dealer, I alerted him to the leak and asked whether he had seen many others with the same problem! Not at all, sez he! Hmmm! Anyway, aside from the disappointment of this leak (I'm trusting that it can be fixed without too much hassle), this truck has been great! I'd probably buy another one next time, but not without checking out the competition more thoroughly and doing some more homework. I only discovered FTE after I bought....probably would have been scared off had I read all the negatives beforehand.

Hey dieseldriver Drive and enjoy. Your in the best truck made a Ford Superduty. I am glad you didnt see this site before you bought your truck. When one person has a problem everybody thinks everybody has the same problem. I know of several friends that have bought the new 6.0 and have had no problems. Drive enjoy

Well, now at 6400 miles...had the dye test last week, and today the dealer sez he needs to pull the tranny. My leak seems minor... in the week since they added the dye it hardly leaked at all....only a fine line of oil along the seam of the bell housing. I was really hoping this would turn out to be the "excessive assembly lube" scenario I've read about....something that eventually would dry up on its own. Would anyone else out there subject their new truck to having its tranny pulled at this stage....a part of me thinks (hopes) this could yet cure itself! What do you all think?

Mine was pulled at about 3600 and again at 7500. At 11000 it quit. I am not sure they didn't just not clean up very well after #2. Been dry ever since. now at 17,500 and still dry. No big deal.
