M5OD gear shift (boot) removal
Anybody have any idea what it takes to seperate the black gear shift lever from the base input shifter mount? I need to remove the rubber boot from the base (the boot under the one you see from the cab) and the shifter is too large for the boot to slip over. There seems to be a plastic lock ring at the base of the lever. I got that loose. Then tried a big rubber strap wrench but cannot break the lever loose. It feels like it is held on by rubber cement. FMC wants over $40 for a new one.
