Rear Pumkin
Rear Punkin What is the electrical connection that runs into the the top-centre of the rear diff on a 1988 F-150? Couldn't see how it would be ABS although I'm new to Fords thanks

It is indeed the plug for the rear ABS sensor. Inside the rearend there's a toothed ring sandwiched between the ring gear and the differential itself, and a sensor goes through the top of the carrier to measure the pulses.
Kind of a crude explanation, but someone else can probably explain it better than I can...

You do have the ABS. I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with speed other than controlling the proportioning valve and the RABS. Your speed is taken from the rear of the tranny. The jerk could be coming from the RABS unit or the valve. You need to pull the codes and see if you have any.
