Door Lock Intermittingly Malfunctioning

Door Lock Intermittingly Malfunctioning
The drivers-side door lock only on my F250 super-duty will intermittently unlock both doors but will not lock either door while the passengers-side door lock operates properly. Its not the lock control switch… after swapping the lock control switch from the drivers-side door to the passenger-side door and vise-versa, the drivers-side door lock still malfunctioned and the passengers-side door lock still operated properly.
The only thing I could find different between the two sides was a voltage difference on one of the leads; the red (pink) with orange stripe wire on the passenger-side had 12 volts to it while the same color wire in the same position on the drivers-side had zero voltage to it. However, running a 12 volt jumper wire directly from the positive side of the battery to the drivers-side red with orange stripe wire terminal did not resolve my problem. Additionally, I have done a continuity check on the socket and it checks out okay.
Any and all help to expedite the resolution of this problem will be highly appreciated.

Has anyone had a similar experience and what did you do to resolve it? If not, any suggestions? Or, where can I go to get a wiring diagram?

Door Locks
I had the same problem and tested all relays and wiring. I wouldnt believe that 3 solonoids went bad at once. You could still hear a click and the lock would move a small amount but they just didnt work. Many threads here point to the fact that the original motors (2000 F350) were poor. I replaced them one at a time and they all work great. Only the drivers door still works with the original actuator.

Hello Norcalseahawkfan,
It would be nice if my problem would just go away... no such luck to date. Hope you don't have a similar problem with your 1999 F350.
Should you or someone else have a similar problem, I'll post what corrective action I took to resolve my problem.
Good luck with your new F350

Hello VJF350SD,
I'm still working on resolving my lock problem.
I have confirmed that the actuators nor the switches are the problem.
It appears that I'm not getting power to the pink/black nor the pink/orange wires at the driver-side actuator nor door switch enabling me to lock the doors from the drivers position.
I have ordered a shop manul, which includes the wiring diagrams. Once I have a wiring diagram, I'm confident I will be able to isolate and fix the problem.

sounds like you dont have the right wire for passenger side. Give me until this evening to get you the right wire colors or some info on this. Find the wires that shows ground and 12 volt respectively, when the doors are unlocked. The wire that shows ground is the unlock wire and the one that shows 12v is the lock wire. apply 12v to the unlock wire and ground to the lock wire, this should lock the door. If the lock does not operate then proceed either towards the lock actuator or towards the GEM to find the culprit.
