Quick question

I've got a 'spare' dizzy off the parts truck I had at one time. I was wondering where/what to cut in order to attach it to my drill to pre oil the engine prior to firing it up.

I used a 1/4 inch socket with a long extension in my electric drill. Make sure you run the drill in reverse otherwise you'll just be blowing bubbles in the oil pan.

Ahhhh, that sounds sooo much easier That's the way I'll go Is there a certain rpm I shouldn't exceed with the drill?

youll have to run it pretty fast in order to suck the oil up trough all the galleries, it wont hurt to run the drill wide open for a while, to ensure it gets oil to everything.

You'll want to run the drill in the direction of the dist rotation (for some reason I'm thinking clockwise). If you want, keep the valve covers loose so you can pull them and look for oil to the rockers. Just take your spare diz and remove the shaft, or, remove the stuff up top so you can put the drill there. I did this for a 302 but haven't gotten far enough to work the 390...

A long electric screwdriver extension works well. No chance of losing a socket in the engine. The hex on the oil shaft is the same size as the hex on those little screwdriver bits.

Sweet

Thanks guys. I've also got a 'spare' 352 sitting on a stand. No heads (sold em) and the block is now worthless because the roof above it got torn off during a storm. IT's pretty nasty looking.
