97 Ranger Coil Spring Replacement
Hi everyone,
I need to replace the front coil springs on my 97 ranger 2 wheel drive. Is a coil spring compressor necessary, and if it is what type is used. I have been told this is a pretty easy process, is it?

Never worked on a ranger front end but typically, even with the suspension relaxed by lifting the truck by the frame, you have to have some sort of compressor. I typically just throw one together out of a couple pieces of heavy flat bar and a couple of heavy bolts. It shouldn't take much to get them in there if they are anything like the others I have worked on. In some cases you can unbolt one end of the shocks and get a little more relaxation in the system and just cram them in. Good luck!!
