Allignment Troubles
Did they set the caster and camber, or just say it was within spec?
The only place that can truely align a Ford 4x4 here is the Ford dealer.
I had mine aligned several times other places, they set the toe in and said the rest was with in spec. Which as I remember was someting like plus or minus two degrees which is a lot.
I went to Ford and they actually set the caster and camber to optimal. I did ask them to do it this way and it did cost a couple hundred to do it. Matter of fact I replaced several ball joints and a couple of tierod ends, think my bill was about 850.00 till it was all done. There are bushings that the ball joints go in that have numbers on them. These have to be changed to the right number to adjust the caster and camber. Ford was the only place that had the bushings to change them. Once it was set correctly it has stayed right even though I have changed ball joints more than once. I have heard of an adjustable bushing that is really junk, it will not stay where it is set. I run mud tires year round, drive on asphault most of the time, haul lots of weight, and get over 30,000 on a set of tires only rotating them about every 10,000 miles. This set I am gonna try to rotate every 5,000 to see if I can get 40,000 out of them.
In the five years since it was done it has saved me a 900 dollar set of tires already.
