I meant to ask this in previous post regarding oil filter-any problems or special techniques required when changing fuel filter? I've heard horror stories about air getting in the fuel lines and causing problems in some diesels...
I changed the fuel filter once in my 2002 PSD Excursion , and really had no issues. It is a straight forward install as far as my opinion goes. Un-screw the lid - remove the old filter - and slowly place the new filter. If you place it in slowly , the filter will absorb the diesel so it doesnt spill over the top. Then tighten back the cover.
I am new to the power stroke engine. When I first get in to start the engine, turning the key on, I can hear what seems to be an electric motor running. A short time later it stops. Does the power stroke engine have an electric primary fuel pump or is it doing something else prior to start?
You are probably hearing two things. The glow plug relay kicking in and the fuel pump kicking in. The glow plug relay should click on and during that process it sound to me like the fuel pump is "revving" up as well. My truck does the same exact thing.
