Bad ignition something? Or sexist truck?

Hi

I just bought a 95 F350 Powerstroke, and I am still trying to figure out why it hates me. This is the second time I have had to call the tow guy out, only I was here this time and he started it right up! Right up!! I tried everything I knew this morning and nada. I did the same thing he did, which was put in key, turn, mash gas pedal to the floor and hold it while cranking. She started right up for him, just cranked pathetically for me. Ford place said last time was water in fuel, fuel seperator element, fuel heating element Ya know, all that...NOW they are saying something about starter switch or ignition switch or something like that. I had a full diagnostic run on it two weeks ago when it wouldn't start and when I asked "shouldn't that have shown up?" I was told, "Not necessarily." Am I getting ripped off here or what? Or is it just that the rednecks who owned her before I did just jerry-rigged everything and now I am stuck doing it all correctlys--out of pocket, natch. Oh, and she also ate her new rebuilt tranny after 50 miles...connected?

Thanks in advance
Jennifer

Too difficult to guess if its all been rigged up. Remember its just as much a mystery to the dealer techs when everything has been bypassed and screwed up as it is to you. Often its necessary to restore everything back to factory original to get a decent diagnosis.

I have never owned a diesel, but have been around guys who have, and they have big discussions on the best place to get fuel. Apparently it is important enough to get good quality fuel for a diesel, that they go out of their way to get fuel at certain stations. I have heard a busy station is a good one to get fuel at because it doesn't sit around long enough to go bad. Do they have additives to get rid of the water in your fuel system if there is some lingering in the fuel tank?

Electrical things like batteries can *Go Anytime* leaving you stranded.

Corrosion on connections is often over-looked and can be found to be a mystery problem

Roger on all that. I had good diesel in it. The battery cables look kinda yuck and I mentioned it to the Ford place. They called this AM and said nada was wrong with it. I am like So I dunno. I told them to check glow plugs AGAIN, PLEASE because it seems to be a coldw eather issue (like 40 is cold, yeesh!).
