Throttle Micro switch?

My first diesel was a 1980 volkswagon rabbit that only generated about 60 HP. Well if you wanted to pass or pull a hill even, you couldn't do it with the air on! So we put a micro switch wired into the compressor clutch so at WO throttle the compressor would disengage. Now how does this relate to my question?

I have a Micro tuner and love what it does for the truck but am also trying to improve fuel economy so I am learning to drive all over again. My idea was that if I were to get a flip chip that can be switched on the fly could I rig it up to use a micro switch that would bump me up to max tune at WO throttle and use a tamer setting for normal driving? It would make life so easy and you wouldn't have to take your eyes off the road to get switched to high horsepower. Has anyone ever considered this and what ideas do you have?

Scott

Might be a little crowded with the other two switches already residing under the pedal, besides, you really don't have to look away from the road to flip the switch on the dash.
