Let's play: What is this trany sensor.....

Well, my friend and I pulled all the plugs, the drive shaft and got the old unit out. Ok, who engineered that stupid release for the hydralic line with that special tool? #$@*$.......

The sensor I am interested in is on the driver's side of the Mazda trans in the late 80's Rangers. It is the one up in the very top near the floor board. It has a HUGE nut around it. There is a wire on the same loom that runs around to another sensor on the opposite side. Inside the trans there is a 3" rod that slides in the hole then the sensor screws in. Please help. I can take a pic but I don't know how to post them.
(I was wrong on the first post, it is on the Passenger's side...... Doh!)
On the Driver's side is the reverse light switch.

The mysterious one on the Passenger's side is a 2nd Neutral Saftey Switch. According to them, Ford put the 1st one on the pedal, and a 2nd one on the trans. This is where it should be.

They claim it is not required to be used and that Ford had done away with it? Can anyone confirm this. I was unsure as to what it did so we halted the install for the weekend and will have to continue when things are cleared up.
