Wet stacking is when you like your truck soooo much that you wash it two or three times without drying it off in between. Sorry, couldn't resist as sometimes things get pretty serious around here. I'm new to the 6.0 and have read the posts put will leave the comments up to the experts.

569104, what 04-hd4u2nv said. Just kidding, wet stacking is when your truck idles for a prolonged period of time and fuel/oil residue will start to form in your engine. I also am not an expert on this, just trying to recall what I read. If you don't idle your truck very ofter for more than 10 minutes at a time, then it probably will not occur, most of the guys say you have to idle for long periods of time for wet-stacking. Myself, I probably will not use the AIC that often, it does not get that cold around here. But those mornings in the winter when it is in the single digits I will fire up the PSD and run the rpms up around 1200 so the truck warms faster. We go to Colorado a few times a year also, so I might use it there. For me, it was a savings to order with the truck in the event I might use it as opposed to later deciding I wanted it and paying more for it. On a sidenote, I noticed when I start my truck up in the morning and let it idle, it automatically goes to an idle of about 1000-1200, probably programmed in the software. Then when I hit the brake the idle returns to 800, so it has a built in feature to help your truck "warm up" when you start it.

I agree, good explanations.

Can you get an aftermarket AIC from somewhere or does it have to come from the stealership? Also, why is there such a difference in price for the same part that they don't actually have installed when you get it pre-ordered in a truck?

If you consider what you get then I would say that $178.00 is probably fairly close to what it is worth. $600 is way more than you would spend on a chip tuner and, functionally speaking, it isn't worth anywhere near what a tuner is worth. Of course it's all about perceptions. Perhaps it would be more attractive if Ford sold the aux idle control for $36,000 and gave you a free PSD Super Duty with each purchase! Such a deal!

Regards,

Morris

This is my third "dizzle" all with remote starts and all with extended idling...
I use the remote start in winter (which aren't too cold here) AND summer (which are very hot here !) and I've never had a wet stacking problem that I know of...

Are we sure this is a problem or just an urban legend :-)

Not starting an argument... I really have never seen any proof of what it causes, only seen some VERY good verbiage about it...!!!!
