I am doing my first oil change on my 6.0 and the drain plug is so tight I am not sure if it will strip out? Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a torque setting to replace the plug if I ever get it out? Thanks for any help...Bob
Yes, I always use the righty tighty rule. I tried a 6 pt. 1/2 drive socket and will still not come loose. I think I will let my dealer try stripping the plug loose for the first time. Thanks for the help. Bob.....
SBV45, I will check out the Fumto valve; it there any possibility of this valve opening or being knocked off while offroading? Also, I have a appointment with my dealer for an oil change Wednesday. Thanks for the help.
I have a 4x4 that I use like a 4x4. The front anti-sway bar sits lower than the Fumoto valve. You would have to high center on some rocks and would probably dent the pan anyway to do it damage. As for accidentally opening, it comes with a spring clamp that slides over the slot for the valve handle to open/close the ball valve. The valve handle sits in a detent also. See http://www.fumotovalve.com/. There is a picture of it there.
Absolutly let the dealer do it the first time, it sound sas though you could have a problem.
Go to the dealer you bought the truck from.........if possible.
Yes, I am taking back to the dealer I purchased the truck from, they have an excellent service dept. that I have used since 1991. I guess that I am pretty lucky compared to some owners only having a stuck oil drain plug. It could be worse! I will check out the Fumoto valve for the next change.

Very lucky you have a good service department........keep um!!!
I got my oil changed today at the dealer, they also had a hard time removing the drain plug. After inspection, they put in a new plug a gasket and all is well.
